Establishment of the Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG) by Ernst Friedrich Schumacher to promote appropriate technology for sustainable development.
Janathakshan (Guarantee) Limited is a not-for-profit organization working to advance sustainable development, climate resilience, and social equity in Sri Lanka. Established in 2011, Janathakshan has built a strong track record of supporting communities, institutions, and partners to address complex development and environmental challenges.
Our work focuses on designing and implementing innovative, inclusive, and practical solutions that respond to real-world needs. Over the years, Janathakshan has piloted and scaled transformative approaches that strengthen resilience, protect the environment, and improve livelihoods, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized communities.
Janathakshan’s programmes are guided by three core strategic pillars: Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Action; Economic and Social Resilience; and Policy, Partnerships, and Knowledge. Through these focus areas, we work closely with government institutions, civil society, the private sector, and international partners to deliver measurable impact and contribute to long-term, sustainable change.
